Tape Dispenser
This tape dispenser was a project to help develop my woodworking skills. It was made from a 3/4" x 4" board of wood, an old hacksaw, and a 1/4" wooden dowel. I got to familiarize myself with a variety of different tools in the woodshop, and I grew in my ability to measure accurately and cut precisely.
Here is my concept sketch. I originally designed this dispenser to contain duct, painter's, electric, and magic tape.
I used the Chop Saw to cut the 3/4" x 4" board into five 6.5" pieces.
I then used a Router to carve out notches to house the dowels.
With a Jig, I drilled out Pocket Holes into the outer walls so that the Tape Dispenser could be fixed onto a table.
I used wood screws to attach the walls together and put in the dividers.
I cut out pieces of scrap wood and used a Belt Sander to round off the edges. These inserts go into the middle of each tape roll, and they are attached to the wooden dowel.
Finally I cut the edges off of an old hacksaw using Straight Cut Aviation Snips. I used a Drill Press to cut out holes, and then I screwed it in. With this last step, the Tape Dispenser was complete.
